For International Teams and Professionals
Offshore Decommissioning Training, Delivered by Industry Practitioners
Lean Decom 1.0 is a modular video course that builds a clear understanding of offshore decommissioning. It is delivered by practitioners who have planned and executed decommissioning projects, and is designed for international oil and gas professionals and their organisations.
North Sea Experience, Relevant Worldwide
The North Sea is one of the world’s most established offshore decommissioning regions. Lean Decom 1.0 draws on that experience to provide lessons on the principles, activities and risks of decommissioning that are valuable for decommissioning projects worldwide.
Developed in collaboration with the following organisations
What You Will Learn and Why It Matters
1. Learn what is involved in decommissioning
Decommissioning is not the same as oil and gas production. The activities, responsibilities and drivers are different. Learning what is involved, and building awareness of the key activities and drivers, will help you contribute more effectively.
2. Learn the language of decommissioning
Decommissioning has its own terminology. Without it, discussions, documents and tenders can be misread. Learning the language allows you to follow them and contribute with confidence.
3. Build your knowledge of the challenges and opportunities
Decommissioning brings risks, hazards, constraints and cost drivers that differ from those in production. Understanding them, and what has worked on previous projects, helps you apply good practice, identify opportunities to innovate and develop solutions that are fit for purpose.
Video-Based Modular Format
The course is broken down into short, focused video chapters, so you can pause and resume whenever it suits. A selection is shown below.
